As a runner, you have to take part in this heroic event at least once in your life. The challenging half and quarter marathons lead along the beach at Egmond aan Zee and through the rolling dunes of the North Holland Dune Reserve. And conditions on the day may well include wind, rain and cold, which won’t make it any easier for you. Nevertheless, it’s always a thrill every year!
- The Netherlands’ legendary half marathon
- Through the beautiful surroundings of Egmond aan Zee
- A battle with the elements
- An invigorating start to the new year
- Half or quarter marathon
As a runner, you have to do this half marathon (21.1 km) at least once in your life. It’s one of the most difficult half marathons in the Netherlands. Are you up for the challenge?
If you want to take part in an event that involves running on the beach and through the dunes in Egmond, but the half marathon is too much for you, why not run the quarter marathon (10.5 km)?
Egmond Mini Marathon
There is also the Egmond Mini Marathon for the youngest runners. This event is organised for children aged 6 to 13, so that they too can demonstrate their running skills and perseverance during the classic winter race. It starts next to the Zeester Bad Noord beach pavilion in Egmond aan Zee and finishes on Boulevard North, where all of the young participants receive a hero’s welcome, just like those who run the half and quarter marathons.
Athletes who are into running and cycling can take part in both the NN Egmond Half Marathon and the AGU Egmond-Pier-Egmond mountain bike beach race and will automatically be entered in the Combi Class. Every year hundreds of determined individuals take on the challenge and compete for the coveted title.
Besides the thousands of individuals who take part, every year hundreds of business teams also compete in the NN Egmond Half Marathon Business Run. Team members train for the legendary half marathon together, run the spectacular course side by side and enjoy a drink in the convivial atmosphere of the Business Tent the other side of the finish line. If you want to combine sportsmanship, networking and team building, you couldn’t pick a better event. Business teams also enjoy special privileges, such as a warm welcome at the heated Business Tent and a better starting position.
